Words can not express how thankful I am for all the generous cards, gifts, flowers, lunches and so much more that you showered me with this past week. Teacher Appreciation Week was wonderful and I so appreciate your kind gestures. I love your children and have had the best year learning with them! So, again thank you and especially thank you for sharing your children with me! They will be greatly missed... Library BooksAll Library Books are due back to the library by this Friday, May 14th. If your child has an overdue book or one that has been lost, please take care of this as soon as possible. Report Cards will be held in the office until all fines or books are turned in. Thanks for your help with this! Friday will also be the last day I will be accepting Book Reports for the year. Thank you!
Accelerated Reader Begins!AR is beginning in first grade. Your child will come home every Friday with an AR book to read and practice. They will also bring home a special BLUE AR folder on Friday to record their AR book title and author. Please return their BLUE folder every Monday. They may keep their books and practice them. We will take AR quizzes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the computer labs. All books will be returned to the library on Fridays now and new ones will be checked out. Please help your child practice their AR books several times to be ready for their quiz on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Our goal is 5 passed quizzes (each quarter) at 80% or higher. Once they reach this goal they will be on morning announcements. First Grade announces their goals on Mondays. It is very exciting! Please see more information below about AR. Reminders~Please help your child remember to bring in their green folder, daily homework, light snack, and water bottle each day.
Sight WordsOur sight word practice has begun. Thank you to all those parents that have volunteered to help with this wonderful first grade reading activity! Parents: Beginning next Tuesday, Sept. 1, your child will come home with a sight word list one day during the week. Please help them read and practice these words to move on to the next level the following week. This will be the same routine during the school year. Thank you for your help!
Introducing Star of the Week!We have completed all of our "Stars of the week" this year. Thank you, parents for helping make this special event in first grade so successful! We have enjoyed getting to know our stars throughout the school year.
